The standard mesh references
UK/EN reinforcement fabric is named by an area code. The A-series (square mesh, 200 mm pitch) runs A142, A193, A252, A393 — the number is the cross-sectional steel area in mm²/m each way. B-series (structural, rectangular) and C-series (long, one-way) cover beams and slabs. Sheets are typically 4.8 × 2.4 m.
Reading a mesh code
A393 = 393 mm²/m both ways = Ø10 mm wires at 200 mm centres — the heaviest common square mesh, for raft slabs. A142 = Ø6 at 200 — light crack-control mesh for screeds and paths. Match the code to the design steel area; don’t substitute a lighter mesh to save cost.
Ordering fabric
Specify the mesh reference, sheet size and quantity, plus any bespoke/’Listed’ mesh cut to a schedule. Wires are ribbed B500 to BS 4483 / EN 10080. We supply the full reinforcement mesh range, standard and cut-to-size, mill-certified.
