What is B420B rebar?
B420B is ribbed reinforcing steel with a characteristic yield strength of 420 N/mm² and ductility class B (≥5% Agt), defined in ISO 6935-2; B420C is the high-ductility variant (class C, ≥7.5% Agt, capped yield ratio) preferred in seismic regions. The grade family parallels ASTM A615 Grade 60 (420 MPa) and is specified across the Gulf, North Africa, Latin America and parts of Asia.
We export B420B/B420C in Ø8–40 mm, straight lengths 6–12 m, with EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates showing chemistry, tensile results and bend/rebend compliance per heat.
B420 vs B500 — choosing the grade
B500B (500 MPa) allows ~16% less steel area for the same force, so European projects default to it. B420 grades remain correct where the design code or project spec says so — notably seismic detailing to codes calibrated on 420 MPa steel, and jobs matching existing reinforcement. Same mills, same certification chain; only the spec changes. If your drawings say Grade 60, B420B material certified to both ISO 6935-2 and A615 usually closes the spec cleanly.

FAQ
Is B420B the same as ASTM A615 Grade 60?
They are close cousins: both 420 MPa class. A615 has no ductility classes while B420B/C add elongation and yield-ratio requirements; dual-certified material satisfies both.
Can I substitute B500B where B420B is specified?
Often yes with engineer approval — B500B is stronger and at least as ductile in class B — but seismic designs may rely on the 420 yield cap, so substitution needs a design check.
