Why grades don’t line up neatly
Every region names rebar differently, and yield strengths differ. Europe: B500A/B/C (500 MPa). USA: Grade 60 (420 MPa), Grade 75/80 for high-strength. India: Fe500/Fe550 (500/550 MPa) with D = high ductility. China: HRB400/HRB500. Gulf/ISO: B420/B500 to ISO 6935-2.
The practical crosswalk
Rough equivalences buyers use: B500B ≈ Fe500 ≈ HRB500 ≈ Grade 75-ish on yield; Grade 60 ≈ B420 ≈ Fe420. But equivalence isn’t automatic — ductility class, yield-ratio caps and bend requirements differ. Seismic specs care most about the ductility class, not just the number.
Buying across specs
