Green Steel Rebar

Low-carbon, EAF-route reinforcing steel with Environmental Product Declarations and CBAM-ready carbon documentation — supplied wholesale, export-direct.

What is green steel rebar?

Green steel rebar is reinforcing steel produced with a substantially lower carbon footprint than the blast-furnace average — typically via the electric arc furnace (EAF) route using high shares of recycled scrap and, increasingly, renewable electricity. European EAF-route B500B commonly achieves 0.3–0.7 t CO₂e per tonne of finished rebar versus ~2.3 t for traditional BF-BOF production. The bar itself is identical in performance: full DIN 488 / BS 4449 mechanical properties, weldability and ductility class B.

We source EAF-route low-carbon B500B rebar, mesh and coil from European mills and supply it export-direct with the emissions paperwork your project needs: mill-specific CO₂ intensity data, EPDs (EN 15804) and EN 10204 3.1 certificates tied to each heat number.

CBAM & carbon reporting — why buyers ask for it now

The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) makes embedded emissions a landed-cost item for steel imported into the EU, and large contractors increasingly carry Scope 3 reduction targets. Specifying documented low-carbon rebar today: reduces CBAM exposure on imported reinforcement, scores directly in BREEAM / LEED / DGNB assessments, and future-proofs public tenders where maximum embodied-carbon limits are already appearing (Netherlands MPG, France RE2020, Nordic road agencies).

With every green-steel shipment we can provide: mill EPD, heat-level CO₂e declaration, scrap-share statement and the production-route evidence CBAM declarants need.

Grades, forms & availability

Low-carbon supply mirrors our standard range: B500B bar Ø8–40 mm (6–12 m), B500A/B500B coil Ø6–16 mm, welded mesh A142–A393 and cut & bend to BS 8666. Availability of certified low-CO₂ material varies by mill slot — for firm EPD thresholds (e.g. ≤0.40 t CO₂e/t) tell us your target and we lock the mill accordingly.

FAQ

Is green steel rebar weaker than normal B500B?

No. Certification is to the same DIN 488 / BS 4449 requirements — yield, tensile ratio and elongation are identical. Only the production emissions differ.

What CO₂ documentation do you provide?

Mill EPD to EN 15804, a heat-level CO₂e declaration matched to the 3.1 certificate, and production-route/scrap-share statements suitable for CBAM reporting.

Does low-carbon rebar cost more?

Expect a modest green premium that varies by mill and certification threshold; on most projects it is small against total reinforcement cost and can offset CBAM charges on imports.
