How rebar weight is calculated
Rebar weight follows one formula worldwide: kg/m = ز ÷ 162.2 (diameter in mm), derived from steel density 7,850 kg/m³. Ribs are already accounted for — standards define the nominal mass. Multiply by length and bar count for any position, then sum the schedule. DIN 488 / BS 4449 tolerance on nominal mass is ±4.5% (Ø8) tightening to ±4% above.
