Thread Bar Systems

Continuously threaded reinforcement bars with couplers, nuts and plates — for anchors, tie-downs, post-tensioning and heavy connection details.

Fully threaded bar systems (GEWI-type)

A thread bar is reinforcing steel hot-rolled with a continuous coarse thread over its full length: any point can take a coupler, anchor nut or plate. That makes it the standard solution for ground anchors, rock bolts, tension piles, holding-down details, form ties for mass concrete, and mechanically anchored starter bars where hooks and laps will not fit.

We supply thread bars in grade 500/550 (B500B equivalent mechanicals) from Ø12 to Ø75 mm, plus the full accessory set — couplers, lock nuts, domed and flat anchor nuts, bearing plates and grout caps — all matched and certified as a system.

Typical configurations

Passive anchors: bar + end plate + nut, single corrosion protection. Permanent ground anchors: double corrosion protection with corrugated sheathing. Tie-downs / uplift piles: bar bonded full length, top anchorage to base plate. Heavy starter/continuation: coupler splices develop the full bar force without congestion-heavy laps.

FAQ

Is a thread bar the same as threaded rod?

No. Threaded rod is machined fastener stock; a thread bar is hot-rolled reinforcing steel whose ribs form a continuous thread — full rebar ductility and bond, plus mechanical anchorage anywhere along the bar.

Can thread bars be welded?

Standard practice is mechanical connection via couplers; weldability depends on the specific grade — ask us with your spec and we confirm mill data.

Do couplers develop the full bar strength?

Yes — system couplers are type-tested to exceed the bar ultimate strength, meeting slip and fatigue requirements of common anchor and splice standards.
