PNS 49 and EN 10080 Technical Comparability

PNS 49 (Steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement) specifies deformed bars by grade: Grade 230, 275, 415, 460 and 500. Grade 460 corresponds to a characteristic yield of 460 MPa; Grade 500 to 500 MPa. Our B500B (EN 10080) provides a minimum yield of 500 MPa with class B ductility. We do not claim formal PNS 49 certification or Bureau of Product Standards (BPS) product listing for our rebar — buyers should confirm project-level acceptability with their structural engineer (NSCP 2015 compliance) and relevant Philippine authority before ordering.

Shipping Rebar to Manila: Logistics Overview

Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) and South Harbour (Port of Manila) are the primary entry points for imported steel. Container and break-bulk options are available.

Container Shipping

A 40 ft high-cube container can carry approximately 22–25 t of bundled rebar (up to 12 m). Sailings from Hamburg or Bremerhaven to Manila typically route via a transshipment hub (Singapore, Port Klang) before the feeder leg to MICT. Total ocean transit varies by carrier and routing.

Break-Bulk Shipping

For high-tonnage or oversized orders (18 m bars, special sections), break-bulk is preferred. Seaworthy bundles of ~2 t are steel-strapped, heat-tagged and stowed in the vessel hold. Break-bulk vessels on the Europe–Philippines route call at South Harbour or Manila North Harbour.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) administers import duties on reinforcing steel. HS classification and applicable duties should be confirmed with a licensed Philippine customs broker. We supply full documentation to facilitate BOC release and any pre-shipment inspection requirements.

What Mill Test Certificate format do you provide?
We provide EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates — the highest MTC category under the EN 10204 standard. The 3.1 MTC is certified by the manufacturer’s authorised inspector and documents chemical composition, tensile test results (yield strength, tensile strength), elongation (Agt), and the heat/cast number. This is the format required by international structural engineers and project lenders for primary structural steel documentation.
Can you supply rebar for seismic-zone construction in the Philippines?
The Philippines is in one of the world’s most seismically active regions. NSCP 2015 and ASEP guidelines specify ductility requirements for rebar in seismic zones. Our B500B (ductility class B, Agt ≥ 5.0%) provides substantial ductility reserves. For the highest seismic demand zones requiring Grade 500C-equivalent performance (Agt ≥ 7.5%), our B500C product may be appropriate — please consult your structural engineer and contact us to discuss.
What are the available diameters and their unit weights?
