Shipping Rebar to Manila: Logistics Overview
Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) and South Harbour (Port of Manila) are the primary entry points for imported steel. Container and break-bulk options are available.
Container Shipping
A 40 ft high-cube container can carry approximately 22–25 t of bundled rebar (up to 12 m). Sailings from Hamburg or Bremerhaven to Manila typically route via a transshipment hub (Singapore, Port Klang) before the feeder leg to MICT. Total ocean transit varies by carrier and routing.
Break-Bulk Shipping
For high-tonnage or oversized orders (18 m bars, special sections), break-bulk is preferred. Seaworthy bundles of ~2 t are steel-strapped, heat-tagged and stowed in the vessel hold. Break-bulk vessels on the Europe–Philippines route call at South Harbour or Manila North Harbour.
