6 mm Reinforcing Steel Coil
6mm rebar coil in B500A and B500B grade — 0.222 kg/m, hot- or cold-rolled, for automated stirrup-bending and mesh-welding machines. Typical coil weight 2–3 t. Supplied to DIN 488 / EN 10080 with full Mill Test Certificate.
6mm Rebar Coil: Technical Specification
The 6 mm reinforcing steel coil is the finest diameter in the standard rebar coil range. It is produced in both B500A (normal ductility: k ≥ 1.05, Agt ≥ 2.5%) and B500B (high ductility: k ≥ 1.08, Agt ≥ 5.0%) grades, both with a minimum yield strength of 500 MPa to DIN 488 / EN 10080.

B500A vs B500B: Which Grade for 6 mm Coil?
For automated stirrup production, B500A is typically preferred: its lower Agt requirement (≥ 2.5% vs ≥ 5.0% for B500B) is well-suited to machine-bent stirrups where very high elongation is not required, and it is often available cold-rolled which improves surface finish and dimensional tolerance for wire-feeding machines. B500B coil in 6 mm is specified where the project engineer requires high ductility throughout, including the stirrups, or where the national standard mandates B500B for all reinforcing steel elements. Please state your grade requirement when requesting a quotation.
Primary Applications for 6 mm Rebar Coil
- Automated stirrup and link production — 6 mm is a common stirrup diameter for beams, columns, and piles in residential and light commercial construction
- Welded reinforcing mesh manufacturing — 6 mm wire is used for the lighter mesh products (e.g. Q 131, A 98 series) suitable for slabs on grade and thin precast elements
- Prefabrication lines — coil-fed CNC bending machines produce consistent stirrup shapes in high volume with minimal waste vs. cutting from straight bar
- Precast concrete elements — lattice girder and filigree slab production often uses 6 mm coil for the lattice diagonals

Coil Diameter Range Context
The 6 mm coil sits at the fine end of the standard coil range. For reference, the full rebar coil diameter range and linear weights:
| Dia mm | Weight kg/m | Section mm² | Typical coil use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | 0.222 | 28.3 | Fine stirrups, light mesh, lattice diagonals |
| 8 | 0.395 | 50.3 | Stirrups, light distribution bars |
| 10 | 0.617 | 78.5 | Stirrups, mesh, light slab bars |
| 12 | 0.888 | 113 | Heavier stirrups, mesh panels |
| 14 | 1.21 | 154 | Main bars (coil for large-volume mesh lines) |
| 16 | 1.58 | 201 | Main bars (upper coil range limit) |
For diameters above 16 mm, straight bar in lengths of 6–18 m is the standard supply form. See our B500B straight bar page for the full range 8–40 mm.
Shipping and Export for 6 mm Rebar Coil
At 2–3 t per coil, multiple coils can be palletised and loaded into standard 20 ft or 40 ft containers, making 6 mm coil well-suited to export shipments. We supply with a full documentation set: EN 10204 3.1 MTC, Certificate of Origin, commercial invoice, and packing list. See our export and delivery page for details on incoterms, HS codes, and seaworthy packing.
