Carbon equivalent limits between EN 10080 B500B and SASO Grade 500 are virtually identical at approximately 0.50–0.52%. Both grades are classified as weldable reinforcing steel, and both meet or exceed the chemical composition thresholds that support modern automated welding processes used in fabrication plants across Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC. Sulphur and phosphorus are controlled at ≤ 0.050% under EN 10080.
Documentation for Saudi Import Clearance
Importing steel into Saudi Arabia requires SASO product conformity certification. B500B from German/EU mills holds CE marking and EN 10204 3.1 MTC — but does not automatically carry SASO certification. Importers supplying B500B to Saudi projects typically arrange third-party testing by a SASO-approved laboratory to confirm conformity with SASO 2558 Grade 500 requirements, or obtain a Type Approval from SASO. We advise buyers to confirm their specific import-clearance route before placing orders.
