Q131 is the DIN 488 type designation for a square (Q = quadratisch) welded reinforcing fabric where both the longitudinal and transverse wires have an identical cross-sectional area of approximately 1.31 cm²/m. The wire diameter is nominally ≈ 5 mm at a pitch of 150 mm in both directions.

The number “131” in the designation encodes the cross-section: 1.31 cm²/m (expressed as 131 mm²/m). Because the mesh is square (Q type), both wire directions carry the same reinforcement area, making Q131 well suited to two-way spanning slabs where equal reinforcement in both axes is structurally efficient.
