Both grades carry a 500 MPa minimum yield strength. B500A is most common in the cold-rolled coil format used for mesh and light stirrups; B500B hot-rolled coil suits load-bearing stirrup production where higher ductility reserve is specified.

Grade Selection: B500A vs B500B in 8 mm Coil
B500A (cold-rolled coil): Normal ductility (Agt ≥ 2.5%). The dominant grade for automated mesh and light stirrup manufacturing. Cold-rolling refines grain structure and holds tight dimensional tolerances. Suitable for EN 1992-1-1 / Eurocode 2 applications not requiring enhanced ductility class.
B500B (hot-rolled coil): High ductility (Agt ≥ 5.0%, k ≥ 1.08). Required for seismically sensitive regions or where Eurocode 2 specifies ductility class B or above. Hot-rolled surface texture provides superior bond to concrete. Increasingly specified in Middle Eastern, African, and Southern European export markets.
