Rebar Morocco: Market Overview and Sourcing Context

Morocco has emerged as one of Africa’s most dynamic construction markets, underpinned by major infrastructure programmes — including highway expansion, renewable energy projects, port development, and the ongoing Mohamed VI social housing plan. The 2030 FIFA World Cup co-hosting ambition is adding further momentum to stadium and hospitality construction. This scale of activity drives consistent demand for reliable reinforcing steel supply, and international buyers frequently look to European sources for quality assurance and documentation.

Morocco’s reinforcing steel standard framework references the NM (Norme Marocaine) series, which is closely aligned with EN 10080. Our B500B, produced and tested to EN 10080, is technically comparable in mechanical properties to the Moroccan B500B designation. We do not claim formal NM type-approval or Moroccan homologation — buyers should confirm acceptance with their engineer of record and relevant authority before proceeding.

B500B Specification for Morocco Procurement

Our standard supply for Moroccan projects is hot-rolled deformed B500B bar, the high-ductility class suitable for all structural reinforced-concrete work:

  • Minimum yield strength: 500 MPa
  • Strength ratio k (Rm/Re): ≥ 1.08
  • Uniform elongation at maximum force Agt: ≥ 5.0 %
  • Rib geometry per DIN 488 / EN 10080 for proven bond in concrete

Logistics to Morocco — Casablanca & Tanger Med

Two major Atlantic seaports serve the Moroccan market, each with distinct advantages for rebar imports.

🚢

Port of Casablanca

Morocco’s busiest commercial port and primary entry point for construction materials. Well-connected to inland distribution for central and southern Morocco. Standard and break-bulk facilities available.

Tanger Med

The large transshipment hub at the Strait of Gibraltar offers excellent connectivity to European and Mediterranean shipping lines. Increasingly used for northern Morocco project logistics and container services.

📦

Container vs Break-Bulk

Containerised shipments suit smaller parcels and mixed loads (20 ft / 40 ft). Large tonnage project deliveries often use break-bulk, especially for long-bar formats (12–18 m). We arrange seaworthy steel strapping and wrapping.

Export Documentation for Morocco

A complete documentation package is provided with every shipment, supporting customs clearance at Moroccan ports and project quality records:

  • EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate — manufacturer’s authorised inspector sign-off, heat number, chemical composition, and mechanical test results per bundle.
  • Certificate of Origin — issued by a German Chamber of Commerce, confirming product origin for Moroccan customs and EU-Morocco Association Agreement preferential tariff eligibility.
  • Commercial Invoice & Packing List — with HS codes (7214.20 for straight bars; 7213.10 for coils), bundle weights and dimensions.
  • Bill of Lading / Sea Waybill — coordinated with our freight forwarder partners familiar with Moroccan port procedures at Casablanca and Tanger Med.
  • Declaration of Performance (DoP) — available for CE-marked product under EN 10080 where required by the project specification.

The EU–Morocco Association Agreement may allow for reduced import duties on goods of confirmed EU/German origin — consult your customs broker on current tariff schedules.

Frequently Asked Questions — Rebar Morocco

Is EN 10080 B500B equivalent to the Moroccan NM reinforcing steel standard?
Morocco’s NM (Norme Marocaine) reinforcing steel standard is aligned with EN 10080, and our B500B product is technically comparable in mechanical properties (500 MPa yield, k≥1.08, Agt≥5.0%). However, formal equivalence or local homologation must be confirmed by the engineer of record. We provide a full 3.1 MTC and DoP to support the approval process.
Can you ship directly to Casablanca and Tanger Med?
Yes. We work with freight forwarder partners offering regular services on the North European–Morocco trade lane to both Casablanca and Tanger Med. We can quote on CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) to either port, or FOB a northern European load port if you prefer to nominate your own forwarder.
Does the EU–Morocco Association Agreement reduce import duties?
The EU–Morocco Association Agreement provides for preferential tariff treatment on goods of confirmed EU origin. German-produced rebar with a valid EUR.1 movement certificate or origin declaration may qualify. The applicable rate should be confirmed with a licensed Moroccan customs broker at the time of import, as tariff schedules can be updated.
What diameters are available for Morocco projects?
We supply straight B500B bars in diameters 8–40 mm and coil product in 6–16 mm. The most commonly requested diameters for Moroccan construction are 10, 12, 16, 20, and 25 mm. Cut-and-bent service is available on request with a longer lead time than standard straight bar.
Can you provide a sample shipment or first trial order?
We handle initial orders of any reasonable commercial size. Provide your specification and we will advise on the most practical shipping configuration — container load or LCL depending on tonnage — along with lead time for a first shipment from Germany.
