Is R335 mesh available in B500B grade for higher ductility requirements?
Yes. While B500A is the standard supply grade for welded mesh, B500B (high ductility: k ≥ 1.08, Agt ≥ 5.0%) is available for projects where higher ductility is required by the structural specification or national annex — for example, in structures designed under Eurocode 8 (seismic design) or where the designer specifies Class B reinforcement. Can R335 mesh be supplied to specifications other than DIN 488-4?
R335 is primarily produced to DIN 488-4 / EN 10080. For projects in countries with different national standards — for example BS 4483 (UK), AS/NZS 4671, or ASTM A1064 — the applicable standard and any equivalent designation should be stated in your enquiry. What is the difference between R335 and Q335 mesh?
R335 is a structural (single-direction) mesh with main reinforcement only in the longitudinal direction; transverse wires are for distribution and spacing. Q335 is a quadratic (square) mesh with equal reinforcement in both directions — 3.35 cm²/m in both longitudinal and transverse directions. Q-type mesh is specified when the structural design requires two-way reinforcement, such as in flat plates or two-way spanning slabs.
