R335 welded reinforcing fabric is the most commonly encountered grade in the R-series. Produced to DIN 488-4 and EN 10080, it features 8 mm longitudinal wires at 150 mm pitch, yielding a cross-sectional area of 3.35 cm²/m. The “R” designation confirms that structural reinforcement is provided in one primary direction — the longitudinal wires bear design loads, and the transverse wires maintain positional integrity during concrete placement.
An 8 mm longitudinal wire weighs 0.395 kg/m (from the standard formula: d² × 0.00617 = 8² × 0.00617 ≈ 0.395 kg/m), and a 6.0 × 2.3 m sheet contains approximately 16 longitudinal wires. Combined with the transverse wire content, a standard R335 sheet weighs in the region of 26–30 kg — a practical handling weight for site operations.

500 MPa characteristic yield strength. B500A (Agt ≥ 2.5%) is standard; B500B (Agt ≥ 5.0%) available for designs requiring higher ductility class, including many seismic design situations.
Practical Sheet Handling
Standard 6.0 × 2.3 m sheets at approximately 26–30 kg are manageable for two-person placement without mechanical aids, reducing site labour requirements.
